Sugar Waxing... What’s the hype?

Let me be the first to tell you if you are hesitant about making your first sugar appointment don't be. Sugar waxing has been around for thousands of years and continues to be one of the best natural hair removal methods, traditionally called moum. Ancient Egyptians strived to be beautiful and not solely for the sake of vanity but as a way to please the gods. This beauty ritual of removing unwanted body hair was used by women, on babies, and priests.

Until recently the art of body sugaring was unknown to westerners, so with its popularity you can find many variations of at home kits online. The traditional sugar recipe is all natural using just three ingredients so unless you are allergic to sugar or lemon, this method can be more suitable for sensitive skin types, although a patch test is always recommended.

Now what about the pain? As compared to strip wax, strip-less wax, and laser hair removal I can say that I prefer sugaring any day. But I encourage you to ask an experienced wax specialist, or esthetician. And if you have been shaving because of the pain understand that sugar waxing allows about a 3 to 4 week period of hair growth so there's less shaving, razor bumps, and ingrowns. Sugar waxing due to the mixture wraps around the hair shaft and follicle avoiding breakage or distortion of the follicle, unlike shaving. So as you continue to sugar the hair grows thinner and sparser, naturally!
